Before their long journeys Guru Nanak stayed with Bhai Lalo, a poor carpenter, instead of attending the feast of the rich official Malik Bhago. Called before Bhago, they squeezed Lalo's coarse bread, which ran with milk, and Bhago's rich food, which ran with blood: honest labour against wealth wrung from others.
