Dressed in blue like a Muslim pilgrim, Guru Nanak lay down to rest with their feet towards the Kaaba. Qazi Rukn-ud-din (Bhai Gurdas names him Jiwan) angrily told Guru Ji to turn them away from the House of God; Guru Ji replied, 'Turn my feet towards where God is not.' In the Janamsakhi telling the Kaaba turned wherever Guru Ji's feet were moved. The teaching is that God is everywhere.

The visit is attested by Bhai Gurdas (c. 60 years later) and accepted by the Encyclopaedia of Sikhism, but there is no independent contemporary record and critical scholars (e.g. McLeod's method) treat the details cautiously. The moving-Kaaba miracle is traditional.
